The Master of Arts in Christian Counseling Degree

The Master of Arts in Christian Counseling Degree is completed in three phases:
Program Requirements for New Students:   
                                                                          
  • Previously earned Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in a mental health related field, or Bachelor of Theology degree

  • Commissioning, Licensure or Ordination as a Christian minister (can be obtained during the degree program)

  • Professing Christian and member of a local church body

 

PHASE I:

COURSEWORK
Students must complete the following courses:

  • CC101: Creation Therapy

  • CC102: Basic Christian Counseling

  • CC103: Christian Psychology & Counseling

  • CC104: Mastering Pastoral Counseling Utilizing Temperament

  • CC105: Quality, Ethics & Legal Issues in Christian Counseling

    

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must complete the following:

  • Complete a practicum, consisting of administering the APS report to 10 individuals.

  • Complete three hours of clinical supervision.

  • Submit responses to the NCCA’s National Licensing Board of Examiners 50 question

  • Submit a headshot or photo.

  • Submit a resume detailing ministry & vocational experience.

  • Apply for Membership to the National Christian Counselors Association.

  • Apply for Membership to the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling.

 

Following the student’s completion of Phase I, he or she will earn:

  • Certified Temperament Counselor from the National Christian Counselors Association

  • Membership in the National Christian Counselors Association

  • Membership in the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling

PHASE II:

COURSEWORK
Students must complete the following courses:

 

  • CC106: Temperament Case Studies

  • CC107: Counseling the Codependent

  • CC108: Counseling for Significance and Freedom

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must complete the following:

 

  • Complete a practicum, consisting of administering the APS to 15 more individuals.

  • Complete three additional hours of clinical supervision.

  • Complete an application for NCCA licensure as a Certified Pastoral Counselor.

  • Complete a background check for licensure.

  • Provide (or complete and earn) ministerial credentials.

 

Following the student’s completion of Phase II, he or she will earn:

  • Licensed Pastoral Counselor from the National Christian Counselors Association

PHASE III:

COURSEWORK
Students must complete five additional courses. Depending on the elective courses chosen, studentsmay be eligible to receive *Advanced Certification.

  • CC109: Making Life Healing Changes 

  • CC110: Counseling and Self Esteem 

  • Elective Course #1 (advanced certified option)

  • Elective Course #2 (advanced certified option)

  • Elective Course #3 (advanced certified option)

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students must complete the following:

  • Complete a Thesis, 100 pages minimum taken from the 25 APS case studies completed in phase I and II. 

  • Complete the matriculation process to award the student’s degree.

 

Following the student’s completion of Phase III, he or she will earn:

  • Master of Arts in Christian Counseling

  • Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor from the National Christian Counselors Association

  • Advanced Certification (if applicable)

 

Total Program Cost:

The following costs constitute the entire program for the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling:

  • Application fee: $100

  • CC101: Creation Therapy: $289

  • CC102: Basic Christian Counseling: $289

  • CC103: Christian Psychology & Counseling: $289

  • CC104: Mastering Pastoral Counseling Utilizing Temperament: $289

  • CC105: Quality, Ethics & Legal Issues in Christian Counseling: $289

  • CC106: Temperament Case Studies: $289

  • CC107: Counseling the Codependent: $289

  • CC108: Counseling for Significance & Freedom: $289

  • CC109: Making Life Healing Changes $289

  • CC110: Counseling and Self Esteem $289 

  • Elective Course #1 (advanced certified option) $289

  • Elective Course #2 (advanced certified option) $289

  • Practicum consisting of a total of 25 APS reports @ $35 each: $875

  • Clinical Supervision consisting of six hours of supervision @ $75 per hour: $450

  • Membership fee to the National Christian Counselors Association: $50

  • Membership fee to the Sarasota Academy of Christian Counseling: $75

  • NCCA Licensing fee: $100

  • National Background Check Fee: $100

  • Matriculation Fee: $1,550
